Here is a link that supposidly is a good substitute for Real Player. I myself have not tried it yet but plan to.

MPC works great once you get the codec packs for Real Media and Quicktime (if you want it for that too). I had to search around a bit for the Real Codecs, let me know if you want me to upload them.

I think I'm resigned to using Real Player, with the message centre disabled.

For all my realplayer needs I just use RealPlayer 8, i HATE Realone!! Realplayer 8 is fine (get plus version if u can ) no ads, no bloated software, no message center crap, only thing it does is put Realplayer quick access thingy in system tray but that can be disabled through preferences.
