I want to be able to connect to someones PC (friends) to share files or what not, and for them to connect into mine.. what is the best way?

setting up a "true" VPN means doing stuff that you probably cant control (like setting up tunnels through every computer/ router between you and them). If you (really) know how to hack, it is possible: though I STRONGLY DO NO RECOMEND THIS

best alternative: kazaalite, or FileShare http://bbn.datakill.com/
I think FileShare (which has a client and a server program) allows you to set up which servers to connect to & you could possibly set it up to each others servers & share files.
NOTE: I personally dont use windows or this application. I've just read about it. now if you were using UNIX there's some really good ways of doing that securely. oh well.

here, i downloaded this off the net a while ago. tells you how to create a VPN server. it's pretty easy. you HAVE to have XP Pro to do it!!...another idea is to set up a FTP server. GuildFTP is a good program and fairly easy to use.

good luck
oDin.

well i do have a Red Hat Linux 8 box....
but oDin, i'll check out that file tonight

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
