Need a free file recovery tool

I have some .doc files that I need to recover. Looking for a free tool to do so. Most of the tools I have come across are geared towards digital media and memory cards.

Has anyone had any luck with those kind of programs. I tried a few and none of them worked, all the files were 0megs and i did quick install when i formatted. Maybe it was just something with my drive/install

i use the restoration prog that i linked above all the time to restore files that my staff members accidentally delete. it's not 100% but about 75% of the time i can get the file back.

in your case i would try something like r studio, but its not free.
