msn messenger error code 8010040

Might have something to do with an XML issue, the XML file that messenger uses sometimes has issues registering correctly. Try the following:

1: Click "Start", click "Run", type the following command, and then press ENTER:

After this command is completed successfully, you should receive the following message: "dllRegisterserver in file_name succeeded." ;

2. Click "OK."

3. Sign in to MSN Messenger again.

yep. its only wen i open i message box wid someone now. i can sign in ok.
 
What error message are you getting this time - or is it the same message?
 
it just says it has encountered a problem and needs to close.
 
have now uninstalled and reinstalled but still crashes wen i open message box
 
You haven't patched it in any way have you? I've had no problems at all with WLM 8.0.0365 so far. It's not perfect but no error messages or anything yet.

I'm getting a ton of hits for mwsoeplg.dll potentially being associated the the MyWebSearch toolbar....
if it's modified of course...
