MS Works problem

I have a problem with the word proccesor in works,when ever it is opened my cpu usage goes straight up to 100%,it is fine in spreadsheet etc.This is relly weird,i sure hope someone can help me.
It does go down if start using something else whilst word is open,but as soon as i stop and word is only thing open,it shoots back up.
My specs4,1.8ghz.512 ram,GF 3 ti 200.Audigy platinum sound.

the only thing i can suggest is reduce the CPU priority for it - Run the program -- go to task manager - click on "Processes Tab" find the program process - Right Click - Set Priority - Choose LOw or Below normal

Have you got all the latest and greatest Patches

If your talking about windows patches,yes i do,thanks i will try task manager and let u know.

you might have enable the speech recognigtion thing in office if you have office XP
