Im looking for an application, preferably free, that will lower the kps of a MP3. Most of the MP3's I have are recorded at 192 - 128 kps and want to make them 96 kps to fit onto my outdated MP3 player. Any ideas?

you would need to convert them to wav and then reencode to the lower bitrate CDex will do this

I know that pain. But sometimes it's about quantity, not quality, when filling those old MP3 players.

I've actually run some at 64 and 32.

I've heard some 96k compressed songs and they sounded pretty good ... I would'nt do it all the time though ..

All dbpoweramp will do is encode, it won't ripp - It is a nice tool though, I really like the menu presence it has when you hover over a mp3 ..
