modem driver?

    I have a question about drivers ,I hope someone won’t mind answering .I’ve been told it is very important to have the latest drivers for your modem,the tech that installed my computer told me that drivers needed came with xp, my question is I’ve been told I need drivers from the manufacturer .i’ve had my computer for 2 yrs. I have looked on the manufacturer ,but I’ve been unable to find the right one.
    Do I need a driver?

    The drivers loaded by windows xp are the most current available. If you go to the usr site and click on support for the drivers you will see a spot for xp. On this page your modem is listed as 5699-0. It is a win modem.
