I have worked with Microsoft Communities for quite some time now and it looks like things are about to expand

    Frequently asked questions: http://www.microsoft.com/beta/betafaq.mspx
Help Build Microsoft Community Applications & Services: http://www.microsoft.com/beta/helpbuildit.mspx

As someone who never got into using newsgroups this is the ideal replacement for me and I am looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.

MS are basically replacing all their Community server stuff it seems, ms do alot of blogging these days so I guess they wanted their own software.

That is quite interesting. Should be a difficult rollout considering how many blogs and different forums they have.

They're okay for a beta, but they all seem to be seriously lacking the kind of polish you would expect from a professional design and dev team at this point.

And most of the pages are pretty broken in Firefox at the moment, which is never a good thing. Actually, I'm getting an error message in IE - "There is a problem with the application. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later" - so maybe things are still being rolled out.
