Media codecs and conversion

Hello ntfs people!
Sorry for this might be a dumb question... I'm new to this Mmedia stuff.

Do you know if there's a soft/guide out there to help me convert a XVID video file to a DIVX? I mean assuming I install both codecs, how do I move a media from one compression to another..?

And what about converting OGG to MP3 and vice versa?

There's a guy on there called King John who has wrote a few tutorials on the type of the things you're after. Search around and I'm sure you'll find what you need
