OK, you got a couple of trojans I can see and some spyware, make sure IE is closed when you fix these. If they are running, stop them.

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update] Microsoft.exe

If mwsoemon.exe scvhost.exe or Microsoft.exe are running, stop them. Then find them and delete them. Please make sure you delete sCvhost.exe not sVchost.exe

I will do that right now, but how do I close all those applications? Through Task Manager? How do I know if they are running or not?

So I deleted those files that you said and so far I'm having no problems.
The icons are not disappearing and McAfee is connecting to the update server.

You should be OK, you can post another log so I can verify your clean if you want.

Here you go.

Look fine.

You might not want both McAfee and AVG running at the same time.

Ok so I guess I will uninstall AVG since it's just a trial version.

Again, McAfee says that it is unable to connect to the update server. Do you think I should reinstall it?
And those funky type of .exe files are back in my C drive.

odd, are these items back in your startup?

^ That's the only one there. Should I remove it?

So all I have to do is follow the removal instructions?

The link isn't even working now. I think it's because of the worm.
I've printed the Removal Intructions so i'll be removing it from my computer soon.

Yeah link is probably blocked by host file again ... be sure to clean that out again when your done ;)

Hmm, sounds like what you got. check this registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\exefile\shell\open\command

When I scanned My Computer, McAfee came up with W32/Sasser.worm. That is the type of worm I think. Then I went to the Virus Information Library. These are the exact damages which happened here. Lsass.exe crashed often and every other symptom fit in perfectly. I downloaded the Stinger program, which you will find when you scroll up, and am running scans now. Thought I'd tell you about it. I also hooked up my firewall enabled router.

What do you think?

Well if you have sasser I would stay behind that router and also visit Winupdate and patch that SSL vunerablity thats been out for a few weeks now ;)

Ok i will do the Winupdate and the patch.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
