Master or Slave?

Here's the thing, I'm going to install Linux on another HD. I'm going to boot it with a boot disk. Should the new drive be a master or a slave?
 
if the current hard drive you have is a master, and you plan to have the second on the same ide chain as the first, then the second will need to be set to slave.

if you use the other ide channel so that the drive it by itself, it will need to be master.
