If you are thinking about pictures, I don't think that would be an option, short of an animated .GIF but that would have poor quality.

If you think about it though, it wouldn't be practical. Something like that would probably cause those users with a slow bandwidth (dial-up possibly) to have slow page load times. Each time a page is loaded, all signatures and avatars have to be loaded.
