i just bought an AMD 5600 with an ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe. i am looking for good memory but not over doing the costs. im looking around $120 to spend. i can higher but prefer not to much higher.

i have found Mem sticks have a latency of 4 and 5. i am not sure what the difference betweent them are. and what i should be trying to get. i want ddr2 pc800 dual channel.

any help?
thanks

just grab a set of crucial value ram :) Just as good as their ballistix range without the insulation.

DDR2 runs faster by running increased clock speeds, but the memory chips can't respond fast enough so they stick extra clocks (wait states) between differrent events in reading and writing. You will see numbers 5-4-4-18, 4-4-4-17 etc.

Basically there is very little speed difference between the 5 and the 4 rating (4 is faster).

Ditto Crucial DDR2 800 Value RAM, Kingston value priced is also ok. The only difference is the chips are hand selected on the"premium" modules to get the smaller wiat state numbers.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
