please and thanx...
what os? most of them it should just auto detect i would think.
i don't know if new drivers are out... but it's suppose to be 4x.. but only writes at 2... so i think it needs updated drivers..
You sound like you're looking for firmware updates.
Get the DVR-104 Auto-Updater from here.
Yanked out of my favourites:
The Firmware Page
I'd wager that more than likely it's the media you're using...
but i got the 1x - 4x dvd-r's
i think it is the drivers.. cuz i never installed them.. lol
Drives shouldn't need drivers on modern windows OS's
Like they said above the DVDs don't use drivers. Most likely culprit is the media. After that firmware and your burning software are next up.
"DVDinfo" http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ and run it to scan your blank media.
To check your media. They slap pure **** into the DVD spindles. One guy got a 50 spindle of fuji media and there were three different types of dvd media in it.
DVD stuff is in its infancy and I have been very dissappointed. The 2x and slower mdedia is pretty stable. Anything above 2.4x is worthless as far as I'm concerned. Media is unreliable and finicky.
