Linux Partition

I am not sure what text editor Suse uses by default, but I personally like nano. If its installed, just issue the command:

nano /etc/fstab

It will open up the file, you can modify it and then hit Ctrl+X to close and save.

i dont know the default either, I can only see openoffice word hmmm

(nano is not installed)

Try "pico /etc/fstab" instead then.

Thanks god that vi is not the default

i used gedit, and I edited the file

now what do I do, how do I get to those files on the windows partition?

Once it is mounted, you shoul be able to just browse to /mnt/winc ,or wherever you mounted it, with Konqueror or your file browser of choice.

It worked, THANK YOU GUYS SO VERY MUCH

REPS ALL AROUND!!!

/mnt/winc is now the mount point for your Windows partition, so everything will be relative to that. C:\foo\hello.txt in Windows, for example, becomes /mnt/winc/foo/hello.txt

From what I understand, SuSE 10 automatically sticks all your mount points in the Places menu in the top menu bar for quick access. You don't see the Windows one in there?

Hmm...I don't remember where I read that now. It may or may not be correct.
Check again the next time you reboot, just in case. If not, forget about it. :)

That would be done by hal/dbus/udev in Gnome, I think that Suse uses KDE by default, doesn't it?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
