Hmm...could you not go through an "Expert" install of Slackware and install only the packages/software sets that you want?
Then again, like you said, you could also install just the "A" packages and end up with a base system.
debian and FreeBSD are more low bloat distros, you have to install what you want to use
SuSe has customisable installs, dunno about the others.
nevermind...I just realized how stupid my question was.
