Laptop latch

Quick question, anyone have any suggestions on fixing the latch on a laptop? It seems that my Fiance (who carries her new laptop in a regular back because her laptop case isn't "comfortable") has finally broke the latch that keeps it shut.

Also while I'm here, do you have a suggestion for a laptop to buy her that can be negected like she does and keep going fairly well?

How old is it? It maybe covered under warrenty. And you should really get her a laptop backpack, I used one for school.
