my explorer.exe and svhost.exe are trying to connect to IP Address 239.255.255.250. Reverse DNS Lookup for this IP Address returns with unable to resolve 239.255.255.250). I am at work behind a proxy server. is this our network server or something like this?

Does anyone know what this IP is?

    Tada, EJ ;)

    taurus.

    A online whois database.

    Elroy Jetson,

It's just a multicast broadcast from a service that comes with windows xp.

If you disable SSDP and UPnP and this will go away.

This GRC tool will disable both services for you:
