Suddenly I can't see a ;ot of images on web pages ( including my forum signature ), I get a blank box with a cross in the top left hand corner.
Also, when someone sends me a file in my email, I can't save it, the options are greyed out.
Can someone help me out on this one please
    Thanks in advance

This is for a red x>

Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and open HOSTS file with notepad and find image.com.com to remove any gamespot problem and MSN for any msn problem and so on, u gotta use the find option.

It was reported back that the person first backed up the file then deleted it with no ill effect & the red x problem was gone.

I did what you suggested and got this

    "Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost"

I don't understand a lot of this being illiterate in this area, so would you please be able to help me out a bit more on this?

    Thanks again

Well I can't see your sig either. Maybe the fault is on that side and not in your computer?

Also what email client do you use? Outlook Express?
