Installing alternative Fonts

With my experience with installing Windows, this is a 1st.
when I destroy a Windows install I generally save a few personal things I acumulate and throw them on the next install. since there's fonts in my namesake, I use them as a signature. I brought them(ttf) over to the new install, put them in window/font directory, they're there, but I can't make them show up in Word, Outlook, IE, or anything else that allows font choices.
What am I missing, overlooking?

anything is something.

Try this: open your fonts folder and on the file menu choose 'install new font'. It should however also work in the way you tried.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
