You installed Sygate?

Basically you allow what needs access, and block what doesn't. After you've conifgured what needs access, you should really have to do anything, except when you upgrade, because Sygate will ask you about exe version changes. I don't really have a step by step guide, but you basically allow what you know and block what you don't. If you need to view a streaming media clip, allow WMP to connect, if some suspicious file is asking for access, block it.

See, I don't know what I need and what I don't, but I suppose I'll lookfor what's familiar. Msmsgs I should allow, right?

Also, I don't know how to allow WMP to connect. Quicktime isautomatically used when I click the link. Please explain.

It will ask you when something is connecting. Usually it takes a while to get everything sorted, but after that, everything should just work.

Allow your bowser (IE, mozilla, whatever)
If you use MS Messenger (MSMSG) or whatever IM software you use.
Allow your email program (outlook, eudora, etc)
If you use programs with automatic updates like antivirus, sygate, windows update allow them.
Allow any online games you play.

Basically if it looks familiar (you installed it and it needs internet access) allow it, if you're not sure do a google on the program, if still not sure check back here.
