What are the Internet Information Services ?

    What's their function?

In IIS, what is the SMTP server? Can I send emails with it?

    Thanks.

    Microsoft Internet Information Services contains:

A notoriously insecure and exploitable HTTP Server For Hosting Your Own Webpages

A really crappy FTP Server with very few features for uploading and downloading

A SMTP server for automated mailings from the site. This server can be used to send mail, but IIS does not have a server for recieving mail

IIS is only a security hole when it is managed by incompetent morons who shouldn't be using daddy's DSL connection to download warez versions of Win2K server to begin with. But then again, it's always easy to jump on the bandwagon, isn't it?

I Don't think IIS is that bad... Closing the wholes are that hard, but thay do keep poping up. Some well chosen programs will keep that from happening too...
