IE opens new windows randomly

When a click a link, IE 6 seems to randomly choose how to open it; sometimes it opens up within the window I'm located (which is of course what I want), but sometimes it opens a new window with the link (without me using Shift-Leftclick), and at other times it opens the link in another browser-window which is already open, although not active (most of the time contaning whatever important page I've been reading).
This is truly annoying, and seems to be totally random, it doesn't happen all the time, and not always with the same link. Any ideas?

if its doing different things with diiferent links then thats up the the programer of the web page who make it open where they want. If its doing different things on the same link, on the same page then that may be a problem, but don;t know what

Yep, the strange thing is that it's doing different things with the same link/bookmark...can't figure, but since noone else seems to have this problem it's certainly local...
