Icon for Photoshop

Can someone recommends good software to convert icons, .ico to bitmap files, .bmp or any other format eg. .psd that is readable and editable by Adobe Photoshop ?

As you may know .ico files usually contain several images, so you cannot simply convert .ico to another format. Get yourself a good iconeditor like Axialis Icon Workshop or Microangelo. You can export images as bitmap there and then edit them with Photoshop.

Axialis IconWorkshop is more than 7 MB and quite expensive. I wondering if there are other more basic software that will do the conversion since I don't have any plan to create icons.
