i wana overclock

  1. ok dis is what i have

    compaq presario 2175us (presario 2100) laptop
    amd athlon xp-m processor 2400+ 1.8 ghz
    15.0 hga tft active matrix display
    40 gb hard drive
    512 Ram memory
    up to 64 mg shared video memory
    microsoft xp pro sp1

    now i wana over clock my processor..is there a way i can over clock by softwares? cuz its a laptop..and i never been inside a laptop before..baby steps ya know?

    any imput would be great:) :)

    Hey ive got a laptop too, overclocking is not such a good idea. Most laptops dont dissipate heat efficiently enough to make it a safe practice. your specs seem good enough, i would reccomend not doing it at all man.

    Aside from laptops not being over clockable...

    Most name brand systems are not OC friendly. The manufacturers don't want to have to deal with warantee claims. The bios is what controls overclcoking and I'm sure it's locked out in all compaq and HP computers. Probably Dell, Sony, Gateway, etc.

    If you wanna overclock assemble your own, and forget laptops.

    Today's Shuttle systems would be like a laptop from ten or so years ago, just add a screen. :D
