DO NOT BUY A MICROTEK SCANNER WHATEVER YOU DO UNLESS YOU ARE BORED AND WANT TO TRY AND GET IT TO WORK WITH XP.

I've never had prolems with HP scanners.

I have a new HP ScanJet 3400C that I used maybe twice.
I had to get a new printer and decided on a combo unit.
I'll sell you the ScanJet for 50.00 if interested...

I bought a Visioneer 9020 for $99us after rebate. Works fine for me, came with PaperPort and Adobe Elements, has a slide scanner backlight feature built in, and is USB 2.0 (dang fast!)

Don't think Visioneer are considered among the best, but I have a 7600usb, too, and they both have treated me very well.

    fwiw,

I have a Umax and have been fairly pleased with it. I wouldn't say I would give it a high recommendation but, that is only because I have not used it much. A brand to look into though.

since you have 200 bucks i would recommend that epson one. it has nice quality and lots of nice features like using those negative film things.
