I've given up on XP. No matter what I try it won't run correctly on my system. I decided to go back to Win98SE.

Forgive my stupidity. But I've just formatted my c: drive and can't get Win98SE to install.

I have my Win98SE CD-ROM and my startup disk . At this point I don't know if I have a new problem or just simply can't remember the install procedure!!!

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

BOOT FROM THE DISK WITH CD SUPPORT. CHANGE TO THE CDROM DRIVE LETTER AND TYPE SETUP. DID YOU FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE WITH NTFS IF SO YOU NEED TO DELETE THAT WITH THE XP CD FIRST AND THEN BOOT TO THE WIN98 DISK AND RUN FDISK AND THEN FORMAT THEN RUN SETUP YOU HAVE TO REBOOT AFTER EACH

Do you have a 98SE boot disk?
You can use that to install by checking the *boot with CD ROM support* option when you boot from the floppy disk.

Lugomann let me see if i can make that a lilttle bit easier.....if you are freshly formatted then your right on ur way..If your cd is able to boot from a cd pop it in and if ya want change the boot order to cd first in the bios....if you have the win98 INSTALL cd, not a boot disk just use that. If your computer doesnt support cd rom booting then get urself a win98 or Me boot disk...grab it over at bootdisk.com. the start with cd-rom support, go to your cd drive, then type setup then you should know it from there, hope this helps :)

BTW, I assume you reformatted with FAT, yes? Obviously you can't install Win 98 on an NTFS partition. Just checking.
