What is a really good HSF for a AMD 3000+. A friend needs another HSF and i was thinking thermaltake volcano 11. I know that is a good HSF cause i have it myself. Just wanted other opions (spelling)

I've got the SLK800 here and it's great! I'm sure the SLK900 will be even better since it uses the same basic design, just improved.

    Case: ~30-33°C
    CPU idle: ~40-42°C
    CPU load: ~45-47°C
    CPU: 2800+ 333fsb Barton @ 2200 (200x11) CPU.

Mind you, the CPU temp is using the internal diode, not the sensor under the socket a lot of boards use. My fan is running kinda slow at ~3200rpm. I've read higher CFM fans make it do much better.

if he doesn't want anything to fancy, a Vantec Aeroflow will do great

comes in both Socket A, and P4 versions

review on the P4 version (same HSF just with a diff bracket)

I've got the SLK-900U on my P4. With a fan on it running at 1800RPM, the cpu temp is 35 idle and 40-45 under load. But that's with good case ventilation and airflow (which plays a much bigger role than most people think in cpu temps).

hey guys the fan that comes with the procosser in isn't good enough?, I am not an overclocker, I am asking because I am planning to buy an AMD Athlon xp 2500+ (barton) and we don't have that large collections of CPU fans here in Egypt, and from what I hear that Athlon xp produce so much heat, and it is really hot here in Egypt, or should I go for pentium4?
