HP dvd100 i

Iv'e just bought a second hand computer for my daughter , problem is that it came with a HP dvd 100i dvd burner and it is an absolute pain , doesnt see dvd-r doesnt see dvd+r runs fine with dvd+rw , Does this drive only burn to dvd+rw discs or is it just choosey about what makes of dvd it uses ,any help would be much appreciated

The 100i only takes DVD+RW. It does not take -R or -RW and since +R was a later addition (variant) to the +RW standard, it doesn't support +R either.
