I'm about to fix up my computer. Is there a guide as to exactly the right way to put thermal compound on the CPU core? Also, what do you use to clean off existing stuff? Do you use rubbing alcohol? If so, how *hard* can you rub? Are you supposed to just dab it? Also, can the alcohol damage anything in the CPU?

Basically, I'm nervous, so any help would be appreciated.

never done it before. but read elswehere that you can use isoporpyl alcohol to remove the old stuf and use almost anything to put it back on (creditcards, spoons, knives).
