How to customize folder details??

An annoying thing about XP: Storing MP3's in a folder, you want to customize what details it shows-- like artist, album, song title, etc. right? Msoft adds things I don't want like file type-- mine are all MP3's (not WMA) so it's a waste of column space. When I de-select it, next time I visit the folder it's back again!!

Can you PERMANENTLY modify what folder column details are displayed? I've tried everything. MUST be a way!!
    Thanks!

i have had folder probs to. and its really pissing me off to be honest. it seems that the default views for folders are pretty crap to be honest! what i want is just all the folders to be defaulted so that i just get the icons like in other windows. but no it always does thumbnails or filmstrip and when i do select icons it only happens to that folder. another thing is auto arrange i dont want this!!!!! but the same again when changing it, it reverts back after a reboot. surely this option is in the registry im trying to find it but no luckn so far. help!!!!!!!!

Set up your view the way you want. In Windows Explorer go to Tools> Folder Options> Go to the "view" tab and select "apply to all folders." This will make everything you open view in the format of choice.

Someone has to have the answer! Lonman didn't understand the problem. I want to CUSTOMIZE and have each folder remember its column settings-- album, author, etc.

See if this is checked. Open Windows Explorer> Tools> Folder Options> View tab> Scroll down to the bottom of that window and there's a check box "Remember each folder's view settings."
