How do you remove the text on desktop icons?

Discussion in 'Desktop Customisation' started by body electric, May 16, 2003.

  1. sorry if this is an old topic but, how do your remove the text on desktop icons? For example "My computer" or "Network Places"
    another topic,
how do you remove the icon and just leave the text on the desktop? I've seen some mods on ntfs.org and some have that and it's the coolest mod I've seen!

    thanks!

it's done using Active Desktop. Basically you create a webpage and set it as your background...

easier way to do it (is gonna take some time and typing if you have many shortcuts)

Just click on rename and type alt + 0160 (on the numeric keypad) it will make a invisible character

Note: This will only work if you have the file extensions hidden.

You can use this only for one icon of each type (shortcut, folder, exe, txt, jpg or whatever you have on your desktop)
For the second icon type: alt+0160 alt+0160
    For the third type: alt+0160 alt+0160 alt+0160

    or use windowfx

  4. cool! thanks for the response! Also, any info or tutorial on how to do that active desktop?
    where can I find windowfx?

    thanks again.

I use a space to rename My Computer and so on, but shortcuts need the Alt + 0160 thing

Alt + 255 does it also.
