I want to edit the registry to remove the arrow from shortcut icons, but I can't find how to do this in XP. Regedit.com has instructions for all other Windows versions, but its not the same in XP. I know that several tweak programs will do this, but I would like to do it manually through the registry. Anyone know how I can do this?

You can also use a tweak program, but the XP Powertoys would be your best choice.

You can also edit the Registry yourself. Go to Start/Run, type in, regedit, navigate to HKEY_Classes_Root/lnkfile and Rename "IsShortcut" to IsShortcutold. Do the same with HKEY_Classes_Root/Piffile, exit the registry and reboot. Your little arrows will no longer be on the shortcut icons. **Remember to backup your registry before attempting to modify it.**

P.S. lnkfile is LNK file, not, INK file.

thanks!

exactly what i was looking for!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
