I get the same thing sortof, except that my system refuses to return from hibernate except when you have just booted from cold, which defies the point in it! though I think my mobo supports its own hibernate of sorts which is a good backup but not quite as good as software hibernate since its easier to have it as a menu instead of a button-function etc.

There is at least one patch concerning hibernation available from Windows Update and in some cases this plugin posted by TwoZigzagColts45 recently may be very helpful:
