now i want a program that can put the data from my attachment into a scatter graph, (weight against height) and also have a different colour for each yeargroup. If microsoft exell can do this please tell me becasue i cannot find out how.

(the reason i have posted a new thread is because it wont let me post again in that thread for some reason. it says im posting a duplicate post. mod please merge thank you :) )

Excel can do this pretty easily - I'll have to figure it out later though as I don't have Excel on this PC.

As a side note, a great source for excel based questions is also http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/

You need to separate the data into three sets - Series 1, 2 and 3, and then assign a different color to each series. This is what it ends up looking like:

I've attached the Excel file so you can look at the chart properties to see how it's done.

I have no idea if it's real. I just plotted the dataset from bobsalot's file.

When you're creating the chart using the wizard, you first select the Scatter plot, as usual. In the second step, you'll see a tab on top labelled "Series." Click that, and you'll see an "Add" button to add additional sets. Basically, you want to create three of them, one for each year-group.
