Need more info. What kind of soundcard, m/b? Did you let XP do a search for a suitable driver before pointing it to your installation disk?

Are the drivers from the manufacturers web site, or from an old installation disk?

Do you have an installation disk with Win2k, WinME, etc. drivers on it? If you do, you might want to give each of those a shot to see if you can get it working.

Run a Chkdsk and see if you have any disk errors.

My friend has that card and the drivers on the cd did not work...

you'll have to download the XP drivers from their homepage, if you haven't already done that...
