Hi, I downloaded the patch and after installing SP 1 from a disk
supplied by Microsoft, (went fine no probem) informed me that I then ran a search ( hidden included for uxtheme theme files and renamed them to uxtheme.bak, I then ran the patchxp file and
this was confirmed as ok and to reboot.
I then found an xp style that I liked from a disk backup,
double clicked this, no joy at all the built in windows style is all
    that would show up.
I cant confirm the build number of SP1 as it does not show up anywhere not even add remove list.
Any help would be most welcome as I really wish these styles
    again.
    Thanks

Can you post a jpg of what happens when you try to use a visual style? Are you clicking the *.msstyle file?

Hi, Thanks for the reply, yes it is the *.msstyle I'm double clicking
what happens when I click on this in the resources/theme folder
is that all that is shown is the built in luna theme which I have chosen as a stop gap.
I looked again at the M/soft sp1 disk, and the self extracting
cab files properties say that this is version 1.16.121.0 in all.
I hope you can or anyone can help further, one thing is when I
saved the original files to .bak one of them was the new file
from the sp1 disk, if that makes a difference.
    many thanks.

Hi Octopus, thanks for the reply, I thought I had the new patch
downloaded from this site as follows "PatchXP - Version 1.1.0
    September 2002."
So if there is a newer patch can you please give me the info.
    Many thanks.

Have you got the entire style folder in resoureces/themes? Clck on the msstyle file then take a printscreen of what it looks like. Open paint & paste it in there. Save it as a jpg & post it here using the ''reply post'.

Go to post reply, then look down till you see 'attach file' then navigate to it on your hard drive & click away.

Hi Fungiver, yes I know of this site and searched and looked,
but could find no mention of what you mention, by old, how old
do you mean, the style I'm trying to use is corona 12" which is not that old.
    Many thanks.

If you are using net sonic turn it on. I don't use it any more but when I upload I have to turn the damn thing on.

With your problem let's start again. Are all the theme/style files in resources/themes when you click the msstyle file?

Hi Hipster Doofus, You have the patience of jobe as the old saying goes, thanks again, yes all the files are here they were
on a cd and I know they work as I have used them before, all
extracted to the themes folder shell folder and mssstyle, I have
just clicked on the properties of the mssstyles icon and although it
is named as Corona12" the properties tell me that this version
is a luna theme from M/soft?, I have looked at the properties of a
file like this but I am sure that this is not right.
No I do not use the program you mentioned.

If everything is where it should be then the only suggestion I have is to download the theme again & see what you get.

you don't have to put them in resources/themes, all my themes are in one folder in the desktop!
i am sure that you didn't apply the patch correctly.
try applying it in the safe mode.
