Why is my HDD checking for consistency occasionally at startup?

yup, scandisk tells me that I need to check one of my HDD for consistency, i've made all thorough checks plus checked with the maxto powerdiagnostics tool. and it says it's ok. actually the tool "recertifies". any ideas?

well , for example after a crash with manually restart scandisk checks your drives :)

yeah but nothing happens, I simply shut down and next morning it gives pops a blue screen with that message" on e of you hdd's needs to be checked for consistency"

Is your WIndows XP boot partition FAT32 or NTFS?

If its FAT32 try converting to NTFS. NTFS is less prone to errors and rarely has to scandisk

To convert, Start->Run "convert x: /fs:ntfs" where x: is the letter of the drive to convert

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
