Hard Disk warning

When I was checking my event viewer lately I found a disturbing warning message about my hard disk telling me the following:
Event ID 52
"The driver has detected that device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 has predicted that it will fail. Immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent."

I know that a couple of times my pc (1.3Ghz AMD) which is only 1 1/2 years old had some problems starting up. Sometimes I hear a double "beep". I thought this was releated to the wheather (was very warm those days)

Is this something I need to worry about. Did any of you had this messafe before ??
Any advice is appreciated.

I have seen the message before, but what was the temp of mobo and cpu at that time?

Eventhough all attention always goes to cpu and mobo, HD's also get very hot, esp. the 7200 rpm models.

try cooling you harddisks i recently took off the SEA-SHIELD cover on both my seagates (warranty Void) cuz i couldnt afford a fan the wonders of S.M.A.R.T. eh!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
