I bought a new Radeon 9700 pro card.
Now i have an ugly and poor (worked till now) G-Force 4.

What is the best way to install the new card?
Remove drivers and uninstall the card from CP ?
Or else ?? ??

Thank you !

Yes , should be perfect to unninstall completely the old drivers from nvidia , even those reg. keys that still remain ..

PS : what brand you've chosen for the new card [?]

If it isn't an inconvenience, the best way is to format. But if you don't have time, uninstall the GeForce drivers from the control panel. Then put the new card in, install the catalyst driver and control panel.

1. Uninstall the card from the device manager
start / run / devmgmt.msc
when asked to reboot click NO

2. uninstall drivers from add & Remove programs

let your machine start the reboot process

dont let the machine completley reboot - turn it off just as it starts

now you can replace the card

nvidia drivers normally do remain even with the uninstall hence you should probably format... in order to get the best performance...

Gigabyte GV-R9700 PRO

if you were staying with the geforce4 line i would say uninstall and reinstall the drivers, but since you went with a different dirver set completely i would highly reccomend that you reformat sometime in the near future.

to be honest just do as the manual says, it shouldnt be a problem. I did the exact same upgrade as you....

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
