Should this be used on all drives or just some, i have concated the drives i want and made a fs on there (FreeBSD) and its reserving the 8% as normal but i have gone from having 1.1TB on there to having 996GB, is it safe and/or advisable to remove the soft update or go with zfs ?

it's safe, it's just a lot slower without it.

ah tunefs - i know Linux has that wasn't sure if bsd had something similar, might go with zfs as all ftp servers i have tried report a widly incorrect free space value on the drive atm :p some say under 1tb some say over 7tb :D
