    In c: i have win98 and in D: i have XP.
IN D: partition which sizes 5GB , there is total data of 2.8GB plus i have given 2% of the partition space to recycly bin and there is no restore point. But still it shows that there is only 800MB free space.

    Try turning off hybernation>

    Disable Hibernation to Save Space

Unless you use it, you can disable hibernation in :
Control panel > Power Options > Hibernate
If left on, the hybernation reserves disk space equal to your RAM

    Just a thought ..............
Are you using a programme such as "Go Back" etc to reserve back up space on the HD.?
Theresulting "Io" file needs to be un hidden in your drive to view.

If it's ntfs, 12% of your drive is reserved space (for the MFT).
