I ahve 2 hard disks - c:\ and e:\

I want to format the e drive.
How do i do this in xp prof ?

Please Help !

Any number of ways - the easiest way is to open explorer, right click on E: drive and select format.

open my computer, right click on the drive and choose format.

That's it :)

Error!

Thanks for the help.

But there's a problem!
I right clicked on the drive and selected format it asked me if i was sure i selected yes but then it said
"Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure that no windows is displaying the content of this drive"

all windows arre closed and i don't have any disk utilities.
what can i do!!!

PLease Help?

are there any files currently on e: drive? If not, try booting to safe mode in windows and then format.

I had the same problem. For me it was Norton Utilities. Do you have that installed?

Lonman's right. If you have Norton File Protection enabled it automatically protects all HD's by default, which means it is passivly accessing e: drive.
