I use XP mainly for writing articles columns funnmystories & cartoonesque gags, so I guess my processors lead a relatively easy if not boring life. Yet I was warned that stacking more than 800 fonts into Windows may cause my computer go china syndrom or something like that. I hastily trimmed back to 700 and stored 500 fonts onto cdrom. To obtain an 'archive' font I now have to park the whole lot in a temp map, copy the desired font to the Windows fontmap, and delete again after use. Is there an easier way?

OK, I just got a quick question.

Where did you find all of your fonts??

re fonts

Well, there were all those nice sites beckoning me to come in and take my pick. Hope I didn't do something that makes uncle Bill mad?

your friend has a point - all your fonts are loaded into memory & can effect performance if you have to many

to avoid a possible crash
install more RAM if possible
& increase the size of your pagefile
to min 3 x RAM / max 5 x RAM

Carried out your PageFile instructions, it works, see my XP smiling from ear to ear now

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
