Flashing ATI 9800 card.

Hi Guys,

Am I able to flash a BIOS of a 9800Pro/128MB onto a 9800/128MB GPU?

If so, How? What do I need? Where do I find it?

I am heading out to the store myself as well. Picking up a Sapphire Atlantis 9800 right away because of the guide you found.

Warnings:

The overclcoking depends on the quality of memory chip used.
"3.3, 3.0 or 2.8ns DDR memory modules"
Not all boards use the fastest memory chips. The cheaper the board the more likely it will not overclock.

That artical is from 2003. That was 2 years ago when the 9800 was young. Vendors tend to add features to defeat free upgrades.

My 9800 PRO memory overclocks to XT speeds but the GPU is pretty much max'd out.

Try manual overclocking before you flash firmware. You may not be able to boot if the card defaults to the 9800 PRO speeds.
