flac to mp3

    anyone know of a painless way to do this? i can decode flac to wav and then usel ame i know, but i would like a solution where by i don't have to re-add all the id3v2 tags and such

    You could use ffmpeg for the job. Not sure if it keeps ID3 tags though.

    You have a link to a little walk through on that X? or should i just google :D

    google wins : ffmpeg -i flacfile.flac -acodec mp3 -ab 128 mp3file.mp3 - i can use that as a base :D will see if i can use wildcards

    i just found two old programs on a disc, one is the flac gui which you need some old xp file for or it wont run and lamdropXPd :) , ah - foobar, yes i forgot that had a conversion option in it :) still wondering if i should use flac to convert them to wav first though, will run a few tests see whats what.

    Being a rather helpful little fellow today arent you td - shame there is no rep system here eh :D
