Extra Gigabit cards

There are two computers in a bigger network. They may need some extra speed between them. If I add a Gigabit card to each machine and connect them with a crossover cable, will I need to do anything extra or will the traffic take the appropriate way (balanced even) between the computers on its own?

Sketch:
Code:
      (Gbit)
Comp1--------Comp2
  \ /
   \ /
    \ /
  (Big network)

dont see why it cant be done..........

if you create connection between with their own subnet and the added each to each others route list then talking directly to each other they would take the route they found first (one in route list) before they would brodcast for the another route over the big network

Ok, so I'd have to add to the routing list. I'll figure that out I guess... :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
