extension alterations

  1. A few times I needed to change the name of a file to be able to open it. I always get the warning: may change the contents or damage them or something alike. So far I damaged not a thing, (.NFO to .TXT for instance, or JPEG/PIF) but how do you know when the pc talks serious business?

don't worry, changing extensions won't damage your files.

They just won't work & then you rename it back.
btw if you highlight the nfo file hold shift & right click it you will get the open with menu. Choose 'always open with notepad'.

.nfo to .txt is ok, but you cannot change .exe to .jpg ..etc without heavily modifying the registry or else it will corrupt the .exe
