error when trying to edit an image file

Basically i right click a jpg and go to edit and get "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the file"

It does this on every image file i try to edit. However I CAN open the file from within paint etc manually and i can view the file with normal double click.

Searched around for the error but couldnt find anything specifically relating to this and vista.

i must have permissions for everything, my account is an administrator.

1) Just because you are an administrator account, does not mean you have access to everything.

2) Have you checked the file association to see what program is trying to be used when you use the right-click/edit option?
