Encrytion Recovery Agent?!?

Awhile ago I played with encrypting some files...

In the course of reinstalling windows I'm now locked out of those files... I need to set up a encryption recovery agent but Xp's not giving me the option...

How is this done?!? There's got to be a way...

Define "encryption." If you are talking about files locked with the NTFS "Encrypt Data To Secure Contents" box on a secondary drive, you're screwed. 2000/XP bases security on what is called a Security Identifier (SID). Each username is assigned a SID, and SIDs are never reused. So simply creating a account with the same name, password, and rights will not work. Your data is hosed.

In the help files it gives a somewhat long explanation on how you can get encryted files back "in case an employee leaves"... But what it says to do does'nt do... :D...

Anyway it's nothing important... :)...

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
